What is ferrosilicon？
Ferrosilicon is made from coke, steel scraps, and quartz (or silica) by smelting in an electric furnace. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidizer and diffusion deoxidizer, and it is an indispensable deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry.
Ferrosilicon can also be used as an alloying agent in steelmaking. Adding a certain amount of silicon to the steel can significantly increase the strength, hardness and elasticity of the steel, increase the magnetic permeability of the steel, and reduce the hysteresis loss of the transformer steel. It is widely used in low-alloy structural steel, composite steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel, and electrical silicon steel. It is often used to produce single crystal silicon or to prepare non-ferrous metal alloys.
