Molybdenum iron is an alloy of molybdenum and iron. Its main use is as an additive for molybdenum element in steelmaking. Adding molybdenum to steel can give it a uniform fine grain structure and improve its hardenability, which is beneficial for eliminating tempering brittleness. In high-speed steel, molybdenum can replace a portion of tungsten. Adding molybdenum to cast iron can increase its strength and wear resistance. Molybdenum, when combined with other alloying elements, is widely used in the production of stainless steel, heat-resistant steel, acid resistant steel, and tool steel, as well as alloys with special physical properties.
