Silicon manganese alloy is an important ferroalloy widely used in steel smelting. It is composed of silicon, manganese, iron, and a small amount of other elements, mainly used as a deoxidizer and alloy additive, which can improve the strength, hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance of steel. According to the different contents of silicon and manganese, silicon manganese alloys are divided into various types, commonly including:
1. Silicon manganese 65-17
Silicon content: about 17%
Manganese content: about 65%
Usage: Widely used in the smelting of ordinary steel and low-alloy steel, as a deoxidizer and alloy additive.
2. Silicon manganese 60-14
Silicon content: about 14%
Manganese content: about 60%
Purpose: Suitable for smelting medium and low carbon steel, with good deoxidation effect and can improve the mechanical properties of steel.
3. Silicon manganese 55-15
Silicon content: about 15%
Manganese content: about 55%
Usage: Mainly used for smelting stainless steel and special steel, it can improve the corrosion resistance and high temperature performance of steel.
4. Silicon manganese 50-12
Silicon content: about 12%
Manganese content: about 50%
Purpose: Mainly used in the casting industry to improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance of castings.
5. Silicon manganese 45-10
Silicon content: about 10%
Manganese content: about 45%
Purpose: Suitable for smelting low-end steel, with low cost and suitable for occasions with low performance requirements.
Production process of silicon manganese alloy
Silicon manganese alloy is mainly produced through electric furnace smelting, with raw materials including manganese ore, silica, coke, etc. During the smelting process, manganese ore is reduced to manganese, and silica is reduced to silicon, ultimately forming a silicon manganese alloy.
