Uses of ferrosilicon powder
Ferrosilicon powder is a powder made from crushed ferrosilicon.
Ferrosilicon powder has many uses, ferrosilicon powder is a product of the casting process.
1.Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon powder to steel can effectively improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of steel, and therefore in the smelting of structural steel, tool steel, spring steel, and transformer silicon steel, when also used as an alloying agent ferrosilicon powder. In the cast iron industry it is used as an inoculant and spheroidising agent.
2. Adding a certain amount of ferrosilicon powder and metallurgical materials in cast iron can prevent the formation of carbide in iron, promote the precipitation of graphite and spheroidization, thus in the production of ductile iron, ferrosilicon powder is an important inoculant (to help precipitate graphite) and spheroidizing agent.
3.Ferrosilicon powder is used as a reducing agent in the production of ferroalloys. Not only is the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen very high, but the carbon content of high ferrosilicon silica powder is very low. Therefore high ferrosilicon powder (or siliceous alloy) is one of the more commonly used reducing agents in the ferroalloy industry for the production of low carbon ferroalloys.
