Introduction and applications of ferrosilicon
Ferrosilicon is made from coke, steel scrap, quartz (or silica) and smelted in electric furnaces. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used as a precipitating deoxidiser and diffusion deoxidiser, and is an essential deoxidiser in the steelmaking industry; ferrosilicon can also be used as an alloying agent in steelmaking. Adding a certain amount of silicon to steel can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of steel, improve the magnetic permeability of steel and reduce the hysteresis loss of transformer steel. It is widely used in low-alloy structural steel, sintered steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel, and is often used to make single crystal silicon or to formulate non-ferrous metal alloys.
1. Deoxidizer: ferrosilicon is an essential deoxidizer in the steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation.
2. improve the performance of cast iron: ferrosilicon added to cast iron can be used as a nurturing agent for ductile iron, can prevent the formation of carbide, promote the precipitation of graphite and spheroidization, improve the performance of cast iron.
3. steel with a certain amount of silicon, can significantly improve the strength, hardness and elasticity of steel, improve the magnetic permeability of steel, reduce the hysteresis loss of transformer steel.
4. ferrosilicon powder can be used as a suspension phase in the mineral processing industry, and as a coating for welding rods in the welding rod manufacturing industry.
