What is medium carbon ferromanganese?
Medium carbon ferromanganese is made by smelting manganese ore in blast furnace and electric furnace. The density of manganese is 7.43 g/cm3, melting point is 1245℃, boiling point is 2150℃. Manganese has a strong affinity with oxygen and can form stable manganese oxide with oxygen. In addition, as an alloying element additive, ferromanganese can enhance the hardness, ductility, toughness and wear resistance of steel. It is widely used in alloy steels such as structural steels, tool steels, stainless heat-resistant steels and wear-resistant steels. Manganese also has the effect of desulfurizing and reducing the harmful effects of sulfur. Medium and low carbon ferromanganese can be divided into low carbon ferromanganese with carbon content less than 0.7% and medium carbon ferromanganese with carbon content 0.7%-2.0%.
