What are the uses of ferrosilicon particles?
(1) ferrosilicon powder used as deoxidizer and alloying agent. In steel-making industry, the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is great, so ferro-silicon particles are strong deoxidizer used for precipitation and diffusion deoxidization. In steel-making industry, ferosilicon powder is often used as ingot cap heating agent to improve the quality and recovery of ingot, because of the characteristic that ferosilicon powder can give off a lot of heat at high temperature.
(2) ferrosilicon powder used as inoculant and spheroidizing agent. In the cast iron industry, it is cheaper than steel, easy to melt and smelt, with excellent casting properties and much better than steel seismic capacity. Ductile iron, in particular, has mechanical properties equal to or close to those of steel.
(3) ferrosilicon powder as a reducing agent. The chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is very strong in ferroalloy production, and the carbon content of high silicon ferrosilicate particles is very low. Therefore, high silicon ferrosilicon powder is a commonly used reducing agent in the production of low carbon ferroalloy in the ferroalloy industry.
