Ingot casting is generally carried out in the β phase region, which is not only conducive to deformation, but also reduces the segregation of alloying elements. The secondary forging temperature is lower than the blanking temperature. The silicon zirconium and Zr-2 alloys are forged in the high-temperature region of the α phase region, and Zr-2.5Nb is forged in the (α+β) phase region. The final forging temperature shall not be lower than 700℃. The hot rolling temperature is similar to the secondary forging temperature, and the extrusion temperature is lower.

In order to prevent oxidation and mold sticking, the blank should be copper-clad or glass coated before extrusion. Silicon zirconium still has good plasticity at the temperature of liquid nitrogen. The cold working volume between two annealings when rolling at room temperature can reach 40% or higher. The cold working system before the finished product has an important influence on the quality and performance of zirconium tin alloy pipes. In order to obtain a pipe with good comprehensive performance, the total compression ratio of cold rolling before the finished product should be more than 50%.
