The use of silicon calcium alloy
Silicon calcium alloys are mainly used in steelmaking and cast iron production.
Calcium and silicon have great affinity with oxygen, and the deoxidizing products are easy to float and easy to discharge, so the liquid steel deoxidized with silicon calcium alloy is relatively pure. In the smelting of high quality steel and special alloy, silicon calcium alloy is commonly used as deoxidizing agent.
The calcium and sulfur in the silicon calcium alloy form the stable compound CaS, which is insoluble in the molten steel. Therefore, when the silicon calcium alloy is deoxidized, it also has the function of desulfurization.
In the production of cast iron, calcium silicon can improve the performance of cast iron more effectively than ferrosilicon. Si-Ca alloy is not only an effective inoculant to promote the formation of spherical graphite, but also can play the effect of deoxidization, desulfurization, denitrification and silicon increase.
The silicon calcium alloy can replace aluminum for final deoxidation.
It is applied to high quality steel. Special steel and special alloy production. For example, rail steel, low carbon steel, stainless steel and nickel-based alloy, titanium based alloy and other special alloys, can be used as deoxidizer silicon calcium alloy. Si-Ca alloy can also be used as a warming agent in converter smelting workshop, as a inoculant in cast iron and as an additive in ductile cast iron production.
