Main Functions Of Silicon Barium Inoculant

Silicon barium inoculant is a bulk metallurgical material made by blending silicon powder and barium powder according to the proportion of demand, and then steelmaking in high temperature furnace. It is an additive in the casting process of foundry. It can promote graphitization, reduce the tendency of white mouth, improve the morphology and distribution of graphite, increase the number of eutectic clusters and refine the matrix structure. It has a good effect in a short time (about 5-8 minutes) after inoculation treatment.


Main functions of silicon barium inoculant:


1. Strongly increase the graphitization core, refine the graphite, promote the obtaining of type a graphite in gray iron castings and improve the strength. For nodular iron castings, it can make the graphite in nodular iron fine and round, and improve the spheroidization grade.


2. It can effectively reduce the undercooling of molten iron, promote the precipitation of graphite, significantly reduce the tendency of white mouth, reduce the relative hardness and improve the machinability of castings.


3. It has strong anti recession ability, and the anti recession time is twice that of 75 silicon. The addition amount of silicon barium inoculant is lower than half of 75 ferrosilicon inoculant, and prevents the associated spheroidization recession.


4. The sensitivity of wall thickness is small, which improves the uniformity of section and reduces the tendency of shrinkage and porosity.


5. Uniform particle size, stable chemical composition and small deviation.


6. The melting point is low (lower than 1300 °), which is easy to absorb and melt during inoculation treatment, and there is very little scum.
