What are the characteristics of metallic silicon? Let's introduce:

Metallic silicon, also known as crystalline silicon or industrial silicon, is mainly used as an additive for non-ferrous alloys. Metal silicon is a product made of quartz and coke smelted in an electric furnace. The content of silicon, the main component, is about 98%, and the other impurities are iron, aluminum, calcium, etc.

Silicon is widely used in smelting ferrosilicon alloy as alloy element in iron and steel industry and as reducing agent in smelting many kinds of metals. Silicon is also a good component in aluminum alloys. Most cast aluminum alloys contain silicon. Silicon is the raw material of pure silicon in electronic industry. Electronic devices made of pure semiconductor monocrystalline silicon have the advantages of small volume, light weight, good reliability and long service life. High power transistors, rectifiers and solar cells made of silicon single crystal doped with specific trace impurities are better than those made of germanium single crystal. The research of amorphous silicon solar cells has made rapid progress, and the conversion rate has reached more than 8%. The service temperature of silicon molybdenum rod electric heating element can reach 1700 ℃, which has resistance, not easy aging and good performance.
