The smelting methods of ferrochromium include silicon thermal method and heat conversion method. Mainly used to improve the oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance of steel, so that a strong oxide film is formed on the surface of the steel in an oxidizing atmosphere, and then the oxidation stops or the oxidation rate slows down. Micro carbon ferrochromium is mainly used to produce stainless steel, wear-resistant and heat-resistant steel.

The main uses of high carbon ferrochromium (containing ferrochromium) are:

1. It is used as an alloying agent for high-carbon carbon steel, tool steel and high-speed steel to improve the hardenability of steel and increase the wear resistance and hardness of steel.

2. Used as an additive for cast iron to improve the abrasiveness and hardness of the cast iron, and at the same time make the cast iron have good heat resistance;

3. Used as a slag-free method for producing silicon-chromium alloys, medium, low and micro carbon ferrochromium and chromium-containing raw materials

4. Used as chromium-containing raw material for the production of metallic chromium by electrolysis;

5. Used as raw material for smelting stainless steel by oxygen blowing method. High carbon ferrochromium smelting process: high carbon ferrochromium smelting methods include blast furnace method, electric furnace method, plasma method, smelting reduction method, etc.
