The National Development and Reform Commission held a seminar on carbon peak in steel and non-ferrous metals industries to promote the low-carbon transformation of industries

On June 29, the Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission hosted a seminar on carbon peak work in the steel, non-ferrous metals and building materials industries. The seminar focused on scientific formulation of carbon peak programs in key industries, promotion of industrial low-carbon transformation, and improvement of energy efficiency. China nonferrous metal industry association, China iron and steel industry association, China building materials federation and other units related personnel to attend this meeting.

In order to implement the major decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council on carbon neutrality and accelerate the energy saving and low-carbon transformation and development of iron and steel, non-ferrous metals and building materials industries, the Industry Department of the National Development and Reform Commission hosted a seminar on carbon peak in the steel, non-ferrous metals and building materials industries on March 19. The meeting focused on scientific formulation of carbon peak plan for key industries, promoting low-carbon transformation of industries, and improving energy utilization efficiency. China nonferrous metal industry association, China iron and steel industry association, China building materials federation and other units related personnel to attend this meeting.

The meeting pointed out that the Central Economic Work Conference has clearly defined carbon peak and carbon neutral work as one of the eight key tasks, which fully reflects the high importance of the Party Central Committee to do a good job in this work. The National Development and Reform Commission will resolutely implement the decisions and arrangements of the CPC Central Committee and the State Council, promptly study and introduce relevant policies and measures, organize relevant departments to actively formulate carbon peak plans, and actively promote green and low-carbon transformation and sustainable development of relevant industries. First, we will study and formulate carbon peak plan for steel, non-ferrous metals, building materials and other industries to help achieve the national carbon peak carbon neutral goal. Second, combining with the reality of traditional high-energy industries, we should grasp the industry's own potential to promote industrial transformation and upgrading and structural optimization. Third, we will improve the efficiency of energy use and promote efficient allocation and utilization of energy resources.
