Its application mainly focuses on the four fields of magnesium alloy production, aluminum alloy production, steelmaking and desulfurization, aviation and military industry, and is widely used in automobile manufacturing, light industry, metallurgical industry, chemical industry, electronic industry and instrument manufacturing industry. The excellent performance and beautiful appearance of magnesium alloy are favored by computer, home appliance, mobile phone and other manufacturers.

USE

 

 Core application areas

(1) Aluminum alloy additives (accounting for over 50% of consumption)

Function: Enhance the strength and corrosion resistance of aluminum (such as 5xxx series aluminum magnesium alloy used in ships and tanks).

Typical addition amount: 0.5%~10%.

(2) Magnesium alloy manufacturing

Features: 30% lighter than aluminum alloy, good shock absorption, used for:

Automobile: steering wheel frame, gearbox housing (reducing weight and fuel consumption).

Aerospace: aircraft seats, engine components.

3C products: laptop case, phone frame.

(3) Steel desulfurization

Spray magnesium powder into the molten iron for efficient desulfurization (S+Mg → MgS, removal rate>90%).

(4) Chemical reducing agent

Production of titanium (Kroll method: TiCl ₄+2Mg → Ti+2MgCl ₂).

Manufacturing ductile iron (magnesium promotes graphite spheroidization).

(5) Other uses

Corrosion protection: Magnesium sacrificial anode (to protect underground pipelines and ship hulls).

Military industry: illumination bombs, smoke bombs (burning to produce strong light and white smoke).

Energy storage: Mg-S battery (high theoretical energy density, under development).
