Brief introduction:

Silicon Chromium is an iron alloy composed mainly of silicon, chromium and iron. Also known as ferro-silicon chromium alloy. It is mainly used as an intermediate alloy for the production of medium, low and micro - carbon iron by electrosilicon thermal process. Used as a deoxidizer (instead of ferrosilicon) and chromium additive in steelmaking. Generally, it contains Cr>30% and Si>35%, with a surplus of iron and a small amount of impurities. According to the carbon content classification, such as carbon ≤0.06%, ≤0.10%, ≤1.0%, etc.

An alloy containing not less than 30.0% chromium and not less than 35.0% silicon. The process can be divided into two types: a one-step process (usually called "slagging" or "ore") and a two-step process (usually called "slag-free"). The raw materials for one-step smelting are silica, chromium ore and coke. The raw materials for two-step smelting are silica, carbon ferrochrome and steel chips. Both smelting methods use coke as reducing agent.

USE:

1.Metallurgical industry

Chromium hard, often incorporated into steel to make hard and corrosion-resistant alloys, mainly used to refine stainless steel, heat-resistant steel and various electric heating materials.

2.Chemical industry

Various chromium salts produced by processing chromite are the main raw materials in the chemical industry. Chromium salt is one of the main varieties of inorganic salts. It is widely used in daily life. It is mainly used in electroplating, tanning, printing and dyeing, medicine, fuel, catalyst, oxidant, match and metal corrosion inhibitor.

3.Refractory materials and cast iron

Since chromite has a melting point as high as 1900 ° C to 2050 ° C, it can maintain its volume at high temperatures and does not react with any slag. Therefore, it can be used as a refractory material, a steelmaking furnace and a lining of a non-ferrous metal smelting furnace.

4.In addition, chromium is also used in cast iron. For example, chromium cast ductile iron has the characteristics of high strength, high elongation, high impact value and low hardness.
