Silicon Calcium Barium Alloy is a composite deoxidizer and desulfurizer widely used in steel smelting (especially in the production of high-quality steel and special steel) and casting industry. The following is a detailed introduction to its core features:
1. Main components
Silicon (Si): 30-60%
Strengthen deoxidation ability and improve the fluidity of molten steel.
Calcium (Ca): 10-15%
Deep deoxidation, desulfurization, refinement of grain size, and control of inclusion morphology.
Barium (Ba): 5-15%
→ Improve the utilization rate of calcium, prolong deoxygenation effect, and enhance desulfurization capacity.
Others: Iron (Fe) and a small amount of impurities.
2. Core functions and advantages
Efficient composite deoxygenation:
The synergistic effect of Si, Ca, and Ba results in significantly stronger deoxidation ability than a single deoxidizer (such as ferrosilicon), generating low melting point composite oxides (such as CaO · BaO · SiO ₂) that are easily floated and discharged.
Deep desulfurization:
Ca and Ba form stable sulfides (CaS, BaS) with sulfur, reducing the sulfur content in steel and improving toughness.
Purification of molten steel:
Change the morphology of non-metallic inclusions (such as Al ₂ O ∝) to spheroidize and refine them, reducing the harm to the mechanical properties of steel.
Improve alloy yield:
The addition of barium slows down the volatilization of calcium, prolongs the action time, and improves the effective utilization rate of calcium (up to twice that of silicon calcium alloy).
Energy conservation and consumption reduction:
Shorten refining time, reduce smelting power consumption and auxiliary material costs.
3. Application scenarios
Steelmaking:
In the later stage of converter/electric furnace smelting, it is added to the ladle as a pre deoxidizer.
External refining (LF furnace, RH furnace): Deeply purify molten steel to produce high-purity steel grades (such as bearing steel, pipeline steel, gear steel).
Casting:
Used for inoculation treatment of cast iron, improving graphite morphology and reducing the tendency of white casting.
Alternative upgrade:
Gradually replacing traditional silicon calcium alloy (Ca30Si60), especially suitable for the production of high-purity steel and special alloy steel.
