Ferrosilicon is an alloy of iron and silicon. Ferro-silicon is an ferro-silicon alloy made by smelting with coke, steel chips, quartz (or silica) as raw materials. Since silicon and oxygen are easy to combine into silicon dioxide, ferrosilicon is often used as deoxidizer in steelmaking. Meanwhile, due to the large amount of heat released during the formation of SiO2, it is also beneficial to improve the temperature of molten steel while deoxidizing. At the same time, ferrosilicon can also be used as an alloying element additive, which is widely used in low-alloy structural steel, spring steel, bearing steel, heat-resistant steel and electrical silicon steel. Ferrosilicon is commonly used as a reducing agent in ferroalloy production and chemical industry.

Low alumina ferrosilicon is the ferrosilicon with low aluminum content. It is a kind of ferrosilicon.

USES:

 

(1) ferrosilicon is an essential deoxidizer in steelmaking industry. In steelmaking, ferrosilicon is used for precipitation deoxidation and diffusion deoxidation. The brick iron is also used as an alloying agent in steelmaking.

 

(2) used as inoculant and spheroidizing agent in cast iron industry. In the production of ductile iron, 75 ferrosilicon is an important inoculant (to help precipitate graphite) and spheroidizing agent.

 

(3) used as reducing agent in the production of ferroalloy. Not only the chemical affinity between silicon and oxygen is great, but also the carbon content of high silicon ferrosilicon is very low. Therefore, high silicon ferrosilicon (or siliceous alloy) is a reducing agent commonly used in the production of low carbon ferroalloy in ferroalloy industry.

 

(4) 75 ferrosilicon is often used in the process of high-temperature smelting of magnesium in the pijiang process. The magnesium in CaO. MgO is replaced, and about 1.2 tons of ferrosilicon are consumed for every ton of magnesium produced, which plays a great role in the production of magnesium.

 

(5) for other purposes. Pulverized or atomized ferrosilicon powder can be used as suspended phase in mineral processing industry.
