Silicomanganese alloys consist of elements such as manganese, silicon, iron, and a small amount of carbon. Silicomanganese alloy is a compound deoxidizer commonly used in steelmaking. It is also a reducing agent for low carbon ferromanganese and electrosilicon thermal process. Silicomanganese alloys can be continuously smelted in large, medium and small hot blast furnaces.

Ferromanganese is an alloy of silicon, manganese, and iron prepared by reduction of silicon ore and manganese ore. The silicon content of ferromanganese is 10%~37%, and the manganese content is 57%~80%. The iron contained in ferromanganese is a variable.

The lumpy ferromanganese is a kind of light gray alloy, whose metallic luster is enhanced with the increase of the amount of silicon. Ferromanganese exists in the form of chunks that are broken up after pouring, which may also be pig iron blocks (large ingots) or small ingots. Silicomanganese after crushing, grinding and sieving, there will be several levels of granularity. The lumpiness (size of the lumpiness) is determined by the crushing of ferromanganese through square mesh screens of different standard sizes.

 

USE:

Silicomanganese alloy is mainly used as the intermediate material of deoxidizer and alloying agent for steel production, and is also the main raw material for the production of medium and low carbon ferromanganese.

Silicomanganese alloy is composed of manganese, silicon, iron and a small amount of carbon and other elements. Its consumption accounts for the second place of electric furnace ferroalloy products. Silicon and manganese in silicomanganese alloy have a strong affinity with oxygen. When silicomanganese alloy is used in steelmaking, the deoxidation products MnSiO3 and MnSiO4 melting are respectively 1270℃ and 1327℃, which have the advantages of low melting point, large particle size, easy floating and good deoxidation effect. Under the same condition, the loss rate of manganese or silicon was 46% and 37% respectively, while that of silicon and manganese alloy was 29%. Therefore, it has been widely used in steelmaking, and its output growth rate is higher than the average growth rate of ferroalloy. It has become an indispensable compound deoxidizer and alloy additive in the iron and steel industry.
